Jamie Vardy scores seventh international goal for England

Almost exactly a year after his previous international goal against Lithuania (March 26, 2017), Jamie Vardy again netted in England colours as he scored for the Three Lions at Wembley against Italy. A quick piece of thinking from Jesse Lingard caught the Italian defence napping and Vardy scored from the quickly taken free kick. It was the Leicester City striker’s seventh international goal after previous efforts. against Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Wales, Spain and Lithuania.

Italy equalised through a late penalty, but the usage of VAR while awarding Lorenzo Insigne’s spot kick had pundits and players puzzled, and Vardy himself admitted that “he didn’t know what it stood for”

Leicester to meet Chelsea in quarter final of FA Cup

Jamie Vardy’s strike saw Leicester end Sheffield United’s Cup run and saw the Foxes book a last eight tie against Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, who beat Hull City 4-0 in their fifth round tie at the Bridge.

Leicester have not won in seven previous FA Cup ties against Chelsea, almost dating back to a century (1920). This will be their eighth attempt, and the last time they reached the quarters of this tournament, it was the Blues who knocked them out.

The quarterfinals look set to ones involving only PL teams, unless Rochdale upset Spurs in their replay at Wembley, Wednesday beat Swansea, and Wigan pull off a dramatic result against in form Man City on Monday night. Apart from the Foxes and the Blues, Man Utd, Brighton and Southampton have booked their spots in the last eight.

Leonardo Ulloa will be back at the AMEX Stadium after a gap of three and a half years following Leicester’s decision to loan him to Brighton till the end of the season. The Argentine forward joined the Foxes from the Seagulls back in 2014, but has struggled for first team time this season, being left on the bench for important games, like their Cup quarterfinal against Man City. He has not started a single PL game in 2017/18, and has been restricted to a grand total of 18 minutes from the bench.

Ulloa was the first player to score a hat trick at the AMEX and is highly rated by Brighton supporters, who will be hoping that the 31 year old can have a similar impact in his second stint

Leicester 2-0 Watford 2018 | Foxes win sees Marco Silva sacked

Jamie Vardy’s first half penalty and Riyad Mahrez’s superb individual strike in second half stoppage time saw Leicester beat Watford 2-0 at the King Power yesterday afternoon. The win also saw the Foxes move ahead of Burnley, with Sean Dyche’s side going down to Manchester United at home.

The result has prompted the Watford board to part ways with Marco Silva. The Hornets have won only one of their last eleven and are 10th in the table at the time of Silva’s dismissal.
