Leicester City defender Harry Maguire scored his first international goal for England as the Three Lions reached the semifinals of the World Cup after beating Sweden 2-0 in Samara.

Maguire, who has been played as part of a back three along with Kyle Walker and John Stones, nodded in from Ashley Young’s corner on the half hour mark to put Gareth Southgate’s side 1-0 ahead. Dele Alli’s second half goal, also a header, put the game beyond the Swedes as England reached the WC semis for the first time since 1990.

This was Maguire’s 10th international cap for England. At this tournament, he played 90 minutes against both Panama and Tunisia. He was a second half substitute in the inconsequential game against Belgium and returned to the starting XI for both knockout games.

It would probably be the most Leicester City thing ever- a kit switch done and shirt already on sale across the pond, but no official announcement made in the UK.

And that’s precisely what seems to have happened, with the Foxes allegedly set to swap Puma for Adidas. Wolves have done the same, announcing a four year deal after earning promotion to the Premier League.

Here is a pic of that rumoured Leicester City Adidas, via the Football Kit News site. We must admit that it looks simple, but very nice! Continue reading

Why is Jamie Vardy wearing CR7 cleats?

Published / by Leicester Talk Blog / Leave a Comment

Star Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has been seen wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s CR7 boots and even scored against Italy at Wembley in those cleats.

It’s been understood that Vardy has had a disagreement of sorts with his boot sponsors Nike, who wanted to give him a different type of boot after his original ones were damaged in Leicester’s recent league clash against Everton. Vardy wasn’t comfortable with the new ones and has therefore temporarily taken to wearing CR7 boots.
