Schmeichel on Chelsea radar?

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is reportedly a transfer target for Chelsea, according to various newspapers. The Blues are in the market for a keeper, with their No.1 Thibault Courtois expected to move to Real Madrid in the summer and Liverpool beating them to the signing of Roma’s Alisson Becker.

Schmeichel was in fantastic form during the recently concluded World Cup and was man of the Match for Denmark in their round of 16 clash against runners up Croatia despite the Danes ending up on the losing side. He also had the best save rate of any keeper at the tournament (for all players with over 2 appearances)

Joy for ex Leicester star Kante as France win World Cup

Published / by Leicester Talk Blog / Leave a Comment

Former Leicester star N’Golo Kante added a World Cup to his already glittering trophy cabinet as Les Bleus repeated their 1998 triumph with a 4-2 win over underdogs Croatia in the final. The French won through goals from Griezmann, Pogba and Mbappe, thus handing their manager Didier Deschamps a rare World Cup double (manager and player)

Kante had been a rock for the French during the tournament, but seemed a little off his best in the final, and was replaced early in the second half by Steven N’Zonzi, a move that helped the French gain control of the game.

Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy had to settle for fourth place as England were beaten 2-0 by Belgium in their third place playoff.

Man City sign Riyad Mahrez

Forward Riyad Mahrez, an integral part of Leicester City’s stunning 2015/16 league campaign, has officially left the club after signing with reigning champions Manchester City. The Algerian has moved to the Etihad from the King Power Stadium for £60m, with future add ons capable of taking that fee to £75m.

Mahrez has been long linked with City, who have now got their man. Champions League football might have been a motivation for the 27 year old, but getting into the XI isn’t going to be easy. City are stacked with attackers with the likes of Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and David Silva all available at Guardiola’s disposal.

As reported by Football On The Move, Mahrez has inked a five year deal with City. The Mahrez transfer represents a fantastic return on investment for City- they bought him for something around £450,000, and have now sold him for £60m, not too dissimilar to what they managed for N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater, who like Mahrez, were key members of Ranieri’s title winning side. Harry Maguire’s Sweden Vengeance Tweet from 2016- Fake or not?

Published / by Leicester Talk Blog / Leave a Comment

After Harry Maguire netted his first in England colours to help the Three Lions beat Sweden in their WC quarterfinal, a tweet from 2016, allegedly from the Leicester defender, claiming “vengeance on the nation of Sweden”, started to go viral.

Is Maguire’s Ikea tweet real or fake?

It’s a FAKE tweet. It’s a well very done fake tweet, and looks real enough (anybody’s who has spent time assembling Ikea furniture can testify to it), but it’s a FAKED image. Maguire’s account was only created in 2017, and the tweet is from 2016.

Here’s the alleged Maguire tweet.
