Forward Riyad Mahrez, an integral part of Leicester City’s stunning 2015/16 league campaign, has officially left the club after signing with reigning champions Manchester City. The Algerian has moved to the Etihad from the King Power Stadium for £60m, with future add ons capable of taking that fee to £75m.
Mahrez has been long linked with City, who have now got their man. Champions League football might have been a motivation for the 27 year old, but getting into the XI isn’t going to be easy. City are stacked with attackers with the likes of Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and David Silva all available at Guardiola’s disposal.
As reported by Football On The Move, Mahrez has inked a five year deal with City. The Mahrez transfer represents a fantastic return on investment for City- they bought him for something around £450,000, and have now sold him for £60m, not too dissimilar to what they managed for N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater, who like Mahrez, were key members of Ranieri’s title winning side.
