Slimani admits summer talks with Marco Silva over Watford move

Leicester striker Islam Slimani has revealed that he had discussions with former boss Marco Silva over a potential move to Premier League rivals Watford in the summer.

Silva was Slimani’s coach at Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and the latter was keen to re-uniting with the prolific forward at Vicarage Road, describing him as “a player he liked” and “a player he knew very, very well” in interviews.

Slimani made the revelation in an interview to Algerian magazine Le Buteur. He was the subject of plenty of transfer gossip after the arrival of Kelechi Iheanacho from Man City, with several French clubs also expressing an interest in bringing him across the Channel.
