Star Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has been seen wearing Cristiano Ronaldo’s CR7 boots and even scored against Italy at Wembley in those cleats.
It’s been understood that Vardy has had a disagreement of sorts with his boot sponsors Nike, who wanted to give him a different type of boot after his original ones were damaged in Leicester’s recent league clash against Everton. Vardy wasn’t comfortable with the new ones and has therefore temporarily taken to wearing CR7 boots.
Almost exactly a year after his previous international goal against Lithuania (March 26, 2017), Jamie Vardy again netted in England colours as he scored for the Three Lions at Wembley against Italy. A quick piece of thinking from Jesse Lingard caught the Italian defence napping and Vardy scored from the quickly taken free kick. It was the Leicester City striker’s seventh international goal after previous efforts. against Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Wales, Spain and Lithuania.
Italy equalised through a late penalty, but the usage of VAR while awarding Lorenzo Insigne’s spot kick had pundits and players puzzled, and Vardy himself admitted that “he didn’t know what it stood for”
